Where The Second Build began
Decluttering the Life You Spent Decades Building
This is the book at the heart of The Second Build Press. It begins with a simple idea: you can value the life you built and still decide that some things no longer fit.
Clear the Space is about letting go, getting unstuck, and making room for what matters now—the starting point for the workbooks, frameworks, and practical tools that followed.

Every module can be purchased individually and used as a focused workbook. They are also intentionally connected: the foundation shapes the language, the language works with your available capacity, and those pieces feed directly into a plan for the situations you know you’ll face.

Examine responsibilities that began as favors but gradually became expectations. Using The Responsibility Release Method™, recognize when helping has turned into an ongoing obligation—and decide what is still yours to carry. It's not about becoming less generous. It's about making sure your generosity remains your choice. Through guided reflection and practical exercises, this workbook helps you identify the responsibilities you've taken on and consider which ones still belong to you. Create room for healthier boundaries without losing the kindness that matters to you.

Get in TouchAbout
The Second Build Press creates eBooks, workbooks, and practical tools for navigating what comes next.
While our work is rooted in the second half of life, many of these tools are useful at any stage. If you are reassessing priorities, clearing what no longer fits, setting boundaries, or deciding what comes next, you can use the frameworks wherever you are in your life.
The first half of life is often about building—careers, families, homes, relationships, responsibilities, routines, and everything that comes with them.
The second build is about deciding what still fits.
Our eBooks, workbooks, and other resources are designed to help you look at what you're carrying forward, what you're ready to let go of, where your time and energy are going, and what you want to make room for now.
No perfect-life formulas. No one-size-fits-all answers. Just practical questions, useful frameworks, and room to make your own decisions.
Because the life you built wasn't wrong. You're simply allowed to decide what belongs in what comes next.
Meet the Founder
Founder, The Second Build Press
The Second Build Press didn't begin with a business plan. It began with a book.
When I started writing Clear the Space, I thought I was writing about the things we accumulate over a lifetime. What I discovered was that clearing space isn't only about what's sitting in a closet, a cabinet, or a storage room.
We accumulate obligations. Expectations. Responsibilities. Relationships and patterns we've learned to navigate. Things we keep because someone gave them to us. Things we continue doing because we've always done them. Ways of spending our time and energy that made sense at one point in our lives but may not make sense anymore.
As my husband and I began looking toward the next stage of our lives and eventually retirement, he would ask me what I wanted to do when we retired.
My answer has always been pretty simple:
I just want to be.
I don't mean that I want to stop living or stop doing things. I mean I want the freedom to enjoy the life we've spent decades building without feeling that every piece of my time, energy, attention, and capacity already belongs to someone or something else.
I want to decide what deserves my energy. I want to protect my peace. And I want to leave enough room in my life for whatever comes next without automatically filling that space with another obligation.
That realization changed the questions I was asking.
What still fits? What am I ready to let go of? What deserves my time and energy now? And what do we want the life we're building from here to actually look like?
Those questions became The Second Build.
I'm not a life coach. I'm not a professional organizer. I'm not a therapist.
I'm basically you.
I'm someone who reached a point in life where experience finally gave me enough perspective to recognize some things I wish I had understood years earlier.
The books, workbooks, and tools published by The Second Build Press grew from that process. I created them because I needed practical ways to work through these questions myself. And I decided to publish them because someone else may need them too.
The Second Build isn't about starting over. It's about looking at the life you've already built and deciding—with experience, perspective, and intention—what deserves to come with you into what's next.
And sometimes, it's simply about creating enough space to protect your peace—and just be.
Experience. Perspective. What's Next?
